Crowhurst Park

Cricket Club

Junior Section 2016 Season

Dears Parents /Guardians/Friends & Families

We would like to welcome all Junior Members and prospective new members to Crowhurst Park Cricket Club and the 2016 season.

Since its formation in 1836 the club has been founded on Fundamental Family Values and Strong Friendships. We will forever promote and develop these virtues for all its members. Our Junior Section cherishes sportsmanship, respect, opportunity, and enjoyment for all. The club is fully Club Mark accredited and all of our coaches are ECB qualified with full Safeguarding certification.

 Training

Junior Training is open to all boys & girls from the age of 9 to 18 years of age

We have had considerable discussion about how we can get greater use out of our wonderful ground and reduce the problems of travel during week day rush hour periods, and how best to utilize the valued time of our coaches. We concluded that we should move our training sessions to Friday evenings and try to organize some fixtures (home and away) on Sunday mornings. Therefore, Summer Training will be at our Walcott Ground on Friday evenings starting at 6.15 through to 7.45. We would encourage juniors to arrive at the ground at 6.00 to give plenty of time to prepare themselves, report to the registration desk and pay training fees, before going on to the playing area.

We have a full quota of ECB qualified coaches plus the help of other members and three Australian qualified player coaches, delivering a structured coaching programme designed to improve our Juniors skills in all aspects of cricket. Emphasis will also be placed on the values of being a member of the club to develop their social skills and responsibilities. We encourage parents to stay at the ground and watch our talented youngsters display their skills. Our Club House will be open for bar & light refreshments, in high summer we may even have a BBQ. Why not relax and enjoy a great social evening with all the parents & supporters.

The first training evening will be Friday 29th April 6.15pm to 7.45 through to July 22nd (13 weeks). Training fees are the same as previous years just £3.00 per session but we must insist that the payment is made at registration prior to the session. Alternatively, if paid in advance with your Annual Membership Subscription we can offer a training fee of £30 for the full 13 week programme.

Special concessions may be granted for circumstances of social need.

Wear The Badge

Team kit for Training Travelling and Matches is vital in creating a unified Club identity and team spirit, It gives a meaningful sense of “belonging”

Those selected to represent the club at Age Group level must have an official Club match shirt plus cricket trousers and suitable cricket footware. The club can provide protective equipment but it is of course better if the juniors have their own, especially abdominal protectors and helmets.

Parents; please remember it can get quite cold in the early summer evenings so it would be a good idea to have a club sweater or some other warm clothing. We also have a full range of stunning training kit and we encourage junior members to have a training top shorts and track suit. This can also be used to travel to & from matches.

Visit our Website Club Shop www.crowhurstpark.play-cricket.com to see the full range of Match Wear & Training Kit.

Club Caps £10 Available at the Club House

We do have a few items of new Club Kit from previous suppliers at terminal bargain basement prices.

Code of Conduct

The ECB have registered concern about the increasing incidents of unsuitable behaviour by players creeping into first class cricket, to the extent that they are considering introducing sanctions that can be enforced during the match. They may well be introducing the Red & Yellow card system well known in football.

“The Spirit of Cricket” is a sacrosanct part of our DNA and happily the behaviour of our Juniors and Visiting Teams is exceptional. However, we have experienced occasions that have threatened to disrupt and spoil the enjoyment of members. We already have our Constitution, Codes of Conduct and Club Charter which fully explain what is expected of members and visiting teams. These are on display in our Club House and Website www.crowhurstpark.play-cricket.com and apply to every club member. As far as our Juniors are concerned our Coaches and Team Managers are empowered to takes action where inappropriate behaviour threatens to disrupt and spoil the enjoyment of others. Parents & guardians will be advised via our

Welfare Officers: - Mick Flanagan & Angela Riley.

Parents & Family

Our junior section is thriving with over 100 talented members. 2015 saw our most successful season and we want that to continue. It costs the club approximately £2000 every year to run without external funding. Our Coaches & Team Managers volunteer their time unconditionally and completely unpaid. Parents and families will no doubt understand the importance of paying Subscriptions and Fees promptly.

It’s wonderful to have so many youngsters wanting to practice and play at Crowhurst Park, but we desperately need the help of Parents & Families in so many ways. Collecting Match and Training fees for example, looking after the refreshments, helping with transport. We are even considering having a couple of Junior Socials after training, perhaps a BBQ or something else. Your involvement is crucial if we are to have an enjoyable season, so please volunteer your help via the coaches and support us when we request help.

We look forward to seeing everyone on April 29th, should you have any questions, comments or suggestions please do not hesitate to contact Martin Barry :- 07812 108941
